IELTS

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

The International English Language Testing System(IELTS) is the globally recognized test of English Language proficiency for non-native English speakers. IELTS is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge English. The tests are categorized into two types: IELTS General Training and IELTS Academic. The band score is between 0 and 9.This language test is accepted for three purposes: study abroad, work abroad and immigration. Students who are planning to study abroad need to take IELTS Academic. While people who want to work abroad or migrate have to take IELTS General Training, as the employers and professional bodies use this test to evaluate their proficiency.

There are four modules for the IELTS: reading, writing, speaking and listening. The Reading module will have 60 minutes to complete 40 questions. The Writing test will consist of two tasks that should be completed within an hour. Speaking modules take about 15 minutes. The listening test takes around 40 minutes. Based on the type of test, tasks will be different for Reading and Writing modules.
